Healing Minds was created from a simple belief: people deserve access to knowledge, tools, supportive spaces, and meaningful experiences that help them better understand themselves and the world around them.
What began as a mental health private practice has evolved into a whole-person wellness company providing coaching, education, consulting, group experiences, sexual wellness programming, and community-based learning.
While our work has expanded, our purpose remains rooted in helping people develop greater understanding, connection, confidence, and personal agency.
Learn. Reflect. Grow. Empower.

Founder | Educator | Coach | Consultant | Facilitator
Damika M. Houston founded Healing Minds with a commitment to creating spaces where people could feel heard, supported, educated, and empowered.
Her professional background in mental health, sexual health education, sex therapy, group facilitation, and expressive approaches to wellness has shaped a perspective that extends beyond traditional clinical treatment.
Through years of working with individuals, couples, groups, students, professionals, and community organizations, Damika recognized the need for wellness experiences that exist between traditional therapy and general self-help.
That realization became the foundation for the evolution of Healing Minds.
Today, her work focuses on translating professional knowledge into accessible education, coaching experiences, group programming, sexual wellness initiatives, organizational consultation, and community learning.
She developed the Healing Minds Method™ — Learn. Reflect. Grow. Empower. — as the guiding philosophy for this work.
Her goal is not to tell people what wellness should look like.
It is to create opportunities for people to gain knowledge, understand themselves more deeply, develop practical tools, and make empowered decisions about what wellness means in their own lives.
Healing Minds began as a traditional mental health private practice providing counseling and therapeutic services.
Over time, we recognized something important.
Not everyone seeking growth needs therapy.
Sometimes people need education.
Sometimes they need a space to reflect.
Sometimes they need practical tools for communication, relationships, boundaries, or wellness.
Sometimes organizations need thoughtful programming that supports the people they serve.
And sometimes people simply need permission to explore who they are and what wellness means to them without being treated as though something is wrong.
That realization led Healing Minds to expand.
Today, Healing Minds brings together mental health knowledge, sexual wellness education, coaching, group facilitation, consulting, and community programming to support wellness beyond the traditional therapy room.
Our clinical foundation continues to inform our commitment to ethical, trauma-informed, thoughtful practice while allowing us to create educational and coaching experiences that reach people in new ways.

The Healing Minds Method™ is the philosophy behind everything we do.
Rather than focusing only on problems that need to be fixed, the Healing Minds Method™ encourages people to build knowledge, develop self-awareness, practice new skills, and strengthen their ability to make informed choices.
The Method is built around four principles:
Knowledge creates options.
Education gives us language, tools, information, and new ways of understanding ourselves and others.
Awareness creates clarity.
Reflection creates opportunities to examine our values, beliefs, experiences, patterns, relationships, needs, and goals.
Practice creates change.
Growth happens when knowledge and awareness are translated into intentional practice, new skills, and different choices.
Agency creates ownership.
Empowerment means developing the confidence and ability to make informed decisions, communicate needs, establish boundaries, advocate for wellness, and determine what growth looks like for you.
Learn. Reflect. Grow. Empower.

Healing Minds creates multiple pathways for growth.
Our work may include education, coaching, facilitated conversation, reflection, skill-building, group experiences, consulting, workshops, and community programming.
Rather than prescribing one definition of wellness, we help individuals and organizations develop the knowledge and tools needed to make informed decisions that align with their own values, goals, relationships, and circumstances.
We recognize that mental, emotional, relational, sexual, social, and community wellness are interconnected.
We believe people deserve accurate information and practical tools that allow them to make informed choices.
We respect each person's right to determine their own goals, boundaries, values, and definition of wellness.
Growth requires spaces where people can explore ideas, experiences, and beliefs without shame or unnecessary pressure.
Some growth happens individually. Other growth happens when people have opportunities to learn, share, listen, and connect.
Our work recognizes the importance of emotional safety, choice, boundaries, cultural awareness, and respect for lived experience.
